If it's a quick and casual bite you are after.why not try Sauerkrauts Gourmet Sausage Bar tucked in a little nook off Vincent Street in Daylesford. "This is the place for the best sausage in Daylesford. Forget about queuing up outside Bunnings for your commercial sausage that tastes more like a charred ocky strap. This is where you'll get to taste a snag the way the Germans like it, the Spanish prefer it or even the Italians devour it. Expertly cooked sausages from Melbourne's finest smallgood specialist with secret (and delicious) relishes all served up in a crusty bread roll. Stand on the street and dream of Oktoberfest. Sauerkrauts puts a little bit of Europe into a Daylesford winter.

A range of sausages sourced from one of Melbourne best smallgoods specialists in Yarraville is on offere in a no-fuss, no nonsense environment. IFrom the menu, we selected the German and Spanish sausages. The flavour combination in the German sausage transported me to Oktoberfest in Munich. Delicious white Bratwurst sausage, cooked respectfully and  served with the ideal amount of their signature relish, cheese and seeded mustard, The sausage was served in a  crusty but light bread roll from a local bakery and was an ideal winter warmer. The Spanish version was just as impressive and pushed out the familiar flavour of chorizo. We loved both varieties. Washed down with a decent fix of coffee, the meal was a good celebration of honest street food. 

In terms of value, Sauerkrauts is a winner and the value equation is right on the money.
